FIRST SURGERIES FOR THE NEW PERLA® TL POSTERIOR CORTICAL SYSTEM
Spineart is proud to announce the first surgeries involving PERLA® TL Cortical, the new Posterior Thoraco-lumbar Fixation System.
On January 19th, the first world-wide surgery with the new PERLA® TL Cortical system was a one-level fusion from L4 to L5, performed by Dr. Jeroen Ceuppens at AZ Groeninge in Kortrijk, Belgium. A week later, on January 25th, the first PERLA® TL Cortical case in the US was a two-level fusion from L4 to S1, performed by Dr. Jason Huffman, MD at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, California.
Dr. Ceuppens said “The system gives a very good tactile feeling when connecting the modular head onto the screw shank. You can feel it when the head is seated onto the screw and the final locking is tactile and audibly confirmed.“
Dr. Huffman commented on the new system that, “The PERLA® TL Cortical system offers simplified, streamlined instrumentation. The modular shanks provided improved visibility and workflow and attaching the modular heads was quick and intuitive. Overall, PERLA® TL Cortical fully addresses the unique demands of the cortical approach and is among the best systems I have used.”
PERLA® TL Cortical, with its dual pitch threads, modular head, cortical trajectory technique, and specific retractor and distractor, is the newest addition to Spineart’s next generation screw platform, PERLA® TL. Further extensions of the PERLA® TL fixation system are expected to be announced during 2021.
The PERLA® TL Platform is under limited release.
SPINEART ANNOUNCES OVER 1,000 PATIENTS TREATED WITH TRYPTIK®2 C-PLATE IN THE USA
Spineart has successfully completed over 1,000 TRYPTIK®2 C-PLATE surgeries in the US.
TRYPTIK®2 C-PLATE is the first cervical plating system offered by Spineart in the US. The system features low-profile plates and one-step, integrated locking rings to prevent screw back out. With streamlined instrumentation and sterile-packed implants, TRYPTIK®2 C-PLATE offers surgeons and operating room staff a practical solution for anterior cervical pathologies.

FIRST CERVICAL DISC PROSTHESIS BAGUERA® C SURGERY IN EGYPT
Spineart is proud to announce the first cervical disc arthroplasty surgery performed at the Smooha University Hospital, Alexandria Egypt using the BAGUERA® C cervical disc prosthesis.
Dr Samer Samy successfully performed the procedure and commented, “I liked the simplicity and ease of application of the BAGUERA® C which made the procedure safe and effective.”
The BAGUERA® C Cervical Disc Prosthesis is an MRI compatible spinal device. The endplates of the BAGUERA® C are anatomically shaped and their inner bearing surfaces are coated with a diamond-like material that features a low coefficient of friction. The load sharing design and the guided mobile nucleus are intended to prevent excessive constraints on the facet joints and the adjacent levels.

FDA 510(K) CLEARANCE RECEIVED FOR THE NEW MINIMAL INVASIVE THORACOLUMBAR POSTERIOR FIXATION SYSTEM PERLA® TL MIS
After getting the CE marking, Spineart is proud to announce that we received the FDA 510(k) clearance for the new Minimal Invasive Thoracolumbar Posterior Fixation System, PERLA® TL MIS on January 15th, 2021.
PERLA® TL MIS is a comprehensive system including polyaxial screws with Extended Tabs which enable a connection to different rod diameters. It contributes to the treatment of spinal pathologies through Percutaneous and Minimal Invasive Surgeries and perfectly complements the new PERLA® TL solutions designed for the treatment of degenerative pathologies.
Further extensions of the PERLA® TL solution are expected to come.
FIRST WORLDWIDE SURGERY PERFORMED WITH THE NEW PERLA® OCCIPITO-CERVICO-THORACIC SYSTEM
On January 11th 2021, Dr Juan M Valdivia Valdivia MD., FAANS. neurosurgeon, successfully performed the first worldwide procedure with PERLA® in Tampa, FL, United States of America.
The PERLA® system allows to fuse from occiput to thoracic spine. After the procedure, a fusion from Occiput to C4, Dr. Valdivia noted that, “the Perla Occipital Plate is a user friendly system. The angle instrumentation was particularly useful to the success of the procedure”.
The PERLA® posterior occipito-cervico-thoracic fixation system is intended to provide immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion for the following acute and chronic instabilities of the cranio-cervical junction, the cervical spine (C1 to C7) and the thoracic spine (T1 to T3).
